I Is Behind

Its almost midnite and I am still working on the ochem cards. So much for bchem. And I only got about 6 pages done on alcohols today! This is not going so well.

Sigh.

That Was Stupid

Today a classmate asked me to help him with his mechanisms. Then about 15 minutes ago, I realized I showed him the wrong product. Now I feel bad. I guess I will have to tell him on Wednesday during lab because I can't do it now.

Sigh.

Okay Back To Work

But I think the dinner schedule has changed. Now I am doing my MCAT cards.

I think I need some coffee.

Joyous!

Working On Alcohols

Of course Im late! I did manage to get up at 7am, but I was busy looking up MCAT crap that Im starting on alcohols now. Luckily, I had things highlighted from last semester, so I just need to make notes. I have some time before I leave for class.

Things are finally becoming orderly! Hurrah!

Schedule Revision

I spent most of the day not studying for the MCAT. I did start eventually, but it seemed to be more in the form of biochem homework. Three textbooks later, I finished the homework. I am already behind in that class, but that is because I spent the first two weeks working on that online project which I finished. That was worth 100 out of 250 points! So Im well on my way to doing okay in this class.

Anyway, I notice that I spend more time on biochem than on anything else. I don't think its because it is more interesting though. So I decided that I need to cool it on the biochem now that Im relatively caught up. Since the MCAT focuses on OCHEM I will get cracking on that since I have to move ahead to do well on that test. So tomorrow, I will get up and get started on the next chapter, alcohols, since its what is next on the MCAT syllabus. Then when I get back from class, I will finish a couple things I left out from alkanes/alkenes because I ran out of time before my trip.

Schedule for 1-31-11:

0700: get up, eat, write letter to Math prof, etc
0800: OCHM: Alcohols
1200-1600: Class, mail letter
1600-1700: Break
1700-1900: MCAT OCHM cards
1900-2100: Dinner
2100-0000: BCHM: Amino Acids/Proteins
0000+: Hopefully not too much else! Bedtime by 1am I hope!

Tentative Schedule for 2-1-11:
0700: get up, eat, etc
0800: OCHM: Alcohols
1200: Lunch
1300: Review MCAT cards, one subject only
1600: break, snack
1630: continue MCAT subject, answer practice questions
1800: break, snack?, break stuff?
1830: BCHM: Amino Acids/Protiens
2000: OCHM: Lab prep, Alcohols chapter
2300: Dinner
0000: Bedtime?
-or-
0000: Dinner
0200: Bedtime?

We'll see, but tomorrow is set! I don't have too much time left! Ieee!!!

Let The Games Begin

Not the super bowl, but the MCAT game. Today I finished doing all the food shopping, makeup shopping, and whatever shopping I would need to hold me over for at least a month. I finished my online project for biochem and organzied all my notes for class and threw away the trash in my office. I am ready to go!

I know I have less than two months, but I think its possible. Starting tomorrow, its game time! Countdown to the MCAT!

However, I am a bit behind on my biochem homeowrk, so I think I will start that first.

WHOO HOOO!

The Curse Is Broken

So my mother would say.

I dropped and shattered a brand new just used large jar of blueberry preserves. It took a long time to clean up. According to my mother, dropping glasses, which I will extend to jars filled with smashed blueberries, means that there was some kind of bad element around you (i.e., curse) and that it is now broken once the glass shatters.

What is funny is that ever since I left NY, Ive felt very down and everyday something happened that made me feel sad or down or upset. I was thinking that someone cursed me! I actually was wondering what I could do to release this curse. So, I hope that this jar shattering is just what I needed.

Today I didn't do what I set out to do. I didnt make this enourmous schedule to study by. The last time I actually plotted a schedule and stuck to it, I was in high school. It didn't last very long. I work better by estimation. We'll see.

I was supposed to practice my makeup today, but my skin is still irritated from washing my hair yesterday. Whenever I wash my hair, my roseacea flares up. I think its the shampoo, but I won't give it up, it's too good. So I think I will change my makeup practice day to Sunday to give my skin time to recover. I only wash my hair one day a week. Usually friday after my hospital shift.

Other things on my to-do list are getting my photo taken and doing the taxes. Im going to buy TurboTax tomorrow because it is on sale at OfficeMax. Then when I get my makeup and hair and clothes down, I will schedule to have my picture taken at Target.

Dinner time!

Re-Spice, Add-Spice, Pro-Spice

Although that is the slogan for CCNY, I think it would make good names for characters of a music group, like a new Spice Girls or something.

Anyways, Ive been sitting here for hours not doing much of anything important. I was supposed to be mapping out my study schedule and all that jazz. Well, it looks like I have been wasting time watching Golimar on YouTube instead. Not that I am terribly disappointed you know.

So I have downloaded the questions for our "online discussion" of the movie "Lorenzo's Oil." The movie wasn't too bad but Im not too sure how I am going to answer some of the questions online. She wants us to draw diagrams but how will I do that? Scan it in? Maybe. In any case, I should get started on that as soon as my textbooks arrive. I hope I get one tomorrow. The one I reordered shipped today so I will get it next week.

Now that things are normalizing, my tentative schedule will be something like this:

Monday: wake up at 8 and watch biochem vids or work from textbook. Get ready for class, come back home by 4pm. Move ahead in ochm for MCAT syllabus. Do any biochem homework.

Tuesday: wake up around 8 or 9. Make breakfasts. Go through my cards. Do homework for OCHM/biochem. Then study some more MCAT cards. Then switch to moving ahead in ochm to finish MCAT syllabus.

Wednesday: wake up at 8 and watch biochem vids or work from textbook. Get ready for class, come back home by 4 pm. Move ahead in ochm for MCAT syllabus. Do some verbal review.

Thursday: Go through MCAT cards. Write one essay. Do ochm homework. Write another essay or do verbal review. Do practice examples test review.

Friday: Wake up to volunteer. Come home and do weekend ritual. Do ochem homework. Go through MCAT cards. Do some verbal practice for MCAT.

Saturday: Practice make-up etc. Do practice exams. Write an essay. Do some verbal work. Do any ochm/biochem homework.

Sunday: tentative.

So I hope tomorrow I will finalize this!

Not The Best Start Of The New Year

January is almost over and it is time for updates!

First of all, I want to say that right now I am not in the best mood. This week has been nothing but downers. I am hoping that next week will be better. Actually I hope that the rest of the year will be better.

Okay so lets start from the top: Happy New Year! 2011 is finally here and I have dubbed this my "year of tests and applications." March is just around the corner and I have my MCAT then. After the MCAT is done, I plan to start studying for the GMAT, and take that test by the end of the year. Of course, I have medical school applications to do and secondaries and if all goes well, interviews!

So this month I went on a trip to NY and saw my family. Of course it was on the tail end of the fifth worst snowstorm in NYC apparently and while I was there, it snowed another eight inches! I am glad my Jeep has four wheel drive because I did use it about four times after getting stuck.

I drove to NYC and it was no fun. It was @#$%^& COLD! I slept in a rest stop in New Mexico and it was about 6 degrees when I woke up that I couldn't stand outside the jeep for more than twenty seconds without my hands getting too cold. I was wearing my ski pants and the fur coat, but that didn't help too much. Like I said, it was #$%^& COLD. The whole way to NY was @#$%^& COLD. NY was COLD, but not @#$%^& COLD. Anyways, since NYC was still recovering from the snowstorm, I couldnt drive my car anywhere because I would lose my spot. I did manage to get one in front of the house. I just left it there for about seven days. The whole time, I had to take the stupid train everywhere. How annoying! I must have spent $60 on the MTA. And I was so hopeful that I would be able to drive everywhere. Well, thats life.

So while I was there, I didn't do much. My mother made TJ and me food and we just walked around. What WAS annoying was the I wanted to take a "large" amount of cash (i.e., "large" to this bank is over $3000!) and was told NO! Apparently, Apple Bank, where Ive had an accound for over TWELVE YEARS said that they cannot give out more than $5000 in cash. I even called the HQ and they said the same BS. The manager at the branch said that if I took out the daily max ($3000) everyday, I would get introuble for money laundering. WHAT!? You know what happened? They gladly let me close my account without question before they would give me any money. So I deposited the cashier's check into TJ's account at Chase, and they gladly gave me the cash. PFFT! Screw you Apple Bank, you suck! Not only that, their customer service sucks! When I was talking to some idiot at HQ, he was very rude! So was that stupid bank manager woman. Screw them all! What a stupid bank. Here is my review.

So what are you supposed to do if you want to buy something in cash? Apparently, you don't go to Apple Bank!

Anyway, after that mess, TJ and I did some shopping and I found me a new navy suit! It was only $35 at some discount place, but it looks more expensive. They only had two left and the other one was too big. The one I bought is a little big, but you can't really tell. Other than that, we basically did nothing while we were there. I did see some friends and ate out a few times. The day before we were to leave, we drove to Long Island to do some shopping. TJ hit the jackpot at Century 21 and found shoes, jeans, and shirts. I didn't buy anything there. I did buy some kitch in Chinatown and went shopping at Fulton Mall. Kings Highway sucks now. There are no good places to shop there anymore. Lame!

Me and TJ did get fashionable haircuts from my mother. I really needed one because I want to take a portrait to put onto some business cards I am going to make. Its similar to the one I had when I started to drive for Fedex, i.e., shoulder length with layers. I did get to take most of my stuff, but not everything fit. I did get to take the fridge and the foldout table chair thingies I had.

After the trip, I had round two of OCHM. My new teacher seems nice. What is most awesome is that she doesn't require lab reports! Hurrah! I hate lab and I especially hate lab reports. Especially the type I did last semester. We only stayed in class about twenty minutes for check in and my lab group seems nice. So far so good.

I also started my first online class ever with this same teacher. I am taking biochemistry online. So far, we only have some homework on pH and dissociatin constant. I ordered two textbooks for this class from Amazon, but one of the sellers emailed me and said his roof blew off and damaged the book. What was interesting was that they had the same book for sale at a higher price. I wonder if this is some kind of trick. Anyway, I ordered that book from a different seller, so I hope it arrives soon. I also have a video class for biochemistry so that should help. As for an assignment, we have to watch "Lorenzo's Oil" and answer some questions about it. This reminds me of CCNY where half of the cases we studied were fictional characters from movies. Well, at least this one is based on a true story!

Tomorrow I am back at SHC wheeling people out the door. I kinda don't want to go because it is already 1am here and TJ just got home and we havent eaten dinner. I will be tired tomorrow. I also don't know where to park. Apparently security is cracking down on employees not parking in the employee lot. The problem is that the employee lot is so freakin far. I may have to leave even earlier to get there. Well, whatever.

So that is the update. I guess I will post more regular rants when everything smoothes out and goes back to a schedule.
